Panelists from Berengaria Development, HGA, Milwaukee Downtown BID and the Milwaukee 7 will share insights on business development initiatives, proposals, interviews, ongoing activities and more. Learn first-hand information about:

  • The business development/marketing relationship
  • Best practices from A/E/C major markets
  • Insights into approach, tactics and trends

Possible topics include client management and growth, building relationships, strategic partnerships and conflict management. SMPS members and guests will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.

 


Dan Sisel – Berengaria Development

Dan Sisel is Vice President of Development at Berengaria Real Estate and is responsible for the development, acquisition and disposition of senior living assets with a focus on site selection, entitlements and leasing in various locations across the United States. Prior to his focus on senior living, Dan helped build Berengaria’s development services business with a focus on retail projects across the United States.  Before joining Berengaria, Dan managed projects for one of the largest construction management firms in the US where he was responsible for leading teams through the early stages of projects, with a focus on project costs, schedule and constructability. Dan is a licensed architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects and a LEED Accredited Professional. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Masters in Architecture and a B.S. in Architecture.

Kate Mullaney – HGA

Kate Mullaney serves as National Healthcare Business Developer for HGA. She works with firm-wide leadership, principals, designers, and specialists across eight offices to develop and implement business opportunities with leading healthcare organizations nationally, from HGA’s Milwaukee office. Kate has more than 15 years of marketing and business development experience in the architecture industry, including prior experience with a global firm in the healthcare, science and technology sectors. Most recently, she led business development for HGA’s Arts, Community and Education practice in the Great Lakes Region. Kate is a member of the national Business Development Faculty for SMPS (Society for Marketing Professional Services), past president of SMPS Chicago (2012 – 2013), and speaks nationally on business development topics. She is also a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM).

Logan Dawson – M7

Logan Dawson is Director of Corporate Expansion & Attraction for the Milwaukee 7. Prior to joining M7 in 2015, he served as the Business Recruitment Specialist for Racine County Economic Development Corporation. Previously, Dawson held various research positions at the Council of Development Finance Agencies. Logan is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in City and Regional Planning.

Matt Dorner – Downtown BID

Matt Dorner serves as the Economic Development Director for Milwaukee Downtown, Business Improvement District #21 (BID #21), an organization celebrating its 20th year that was established to support the interests of the downtown Milwaukee business community.  Milwaukee Downtown funds initiatives aimed at creating a clean, safe, friendly, and economically viable downtown. The district manages 150 blocks representing approximately 500 commercial property owners. Mr. Dorner works closely with a wide variety of stakeholders on BID #21’s efforts and initiatives that focus on promoting new development and attract and retain businesses in downtown Milwaukee.  Prior to joining Milwaukee Downtown, Matt served as the Assistant Community Development Director and Economic Development Specialist for a Milwaukee suburb.  Mr. Dorner is a graduate of the UW-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning and holds his Master’s Degrees in Urban Planning and Public Administration.

(Moderator) John Ferguson – Kahler Slater

John Ferguson is an Associate and Business Development Manager at Kahler Slater, an award-winning architectural, interior design, and environmental branding firm. As an accomplished relationship builder, John believes that clear communication is critical to delivering successful client outcomes. John’s primary focus is the strategic development of new corporate, housing, and hospitality business in the key markets of Milwaukee, Madison, and Richmond, VA.

 


Registration Information

Please register online with the button above. You can pay by credit card or check. Checks made payable to SMPS Wisconsin can be mailed to the address provided on the registration page. Please include the title of the program and the names of all registrants.

Register at the door the day of the event with a check for an extra $10. Cancellations are refunded in full if received by 8:00 am the day before the program. No refunds will be given after this time. Contact Molly Venturini with questions.
